Do you think Phil Murphy is stalling to sign the bill to legalize sports betting?

Governor Phil Murphy said Friday he doesn’t have a timetable for when he’ll sign a bill authorizing legal sports betting in New Jersey, but he insisted he’s not sitting on it.

Boston is set at shortstop with Xander Bogaerts. But the Red Sox are getting uneven production from 21-year-old Rafael Devers at third.

Whoemever trades for Machado will be getting a short-term rental, since he’s scheduled to become a free agent after the 2018 season.

Yanks, Sox chasing ‘elite’ reliever?

Both he and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper could be looking at free agent deals approaching $400 million, especially if deep-pocket teams like the Yankees and Phillies are interested.

Although Aaron Judge was homering a little more frequently as a rookie last season and Gary Sanchez’s sophomore season was almost as good as his first, the 2017 Yankees were a lot more inconsistent than this year’s club.

The fate of New Jersey sports betting is now in Murphy’s hands after both houses of the state Legislature voted overwhelmingly Thursday to pass the bill, which would regulate and tax such wagering online and in person at the Garden State’s casinos and racetracks.

Do you think Phil Murphy is sitting on it when it comes to legalizing sports betting?

Phones must be set to silent or vibrate and may only be used for texting/emailing if players are not in position nearby. Phone calls are only permitted in designated areas of the course.

Wi-Fi Zones: The USGA provides complimentary Wi-Fi in the FanZone, which is located to the right of the 17th green and left of the 12th hole. In addition, Wi-Fi will be available in grandstands throughout the grounds.

How Saquon Barkley reacted to seeing my dumb Tweet

Barkley’s rare combination of speed and strength made him a viral sensation at Penn State, both on the field and in the weight room. It followed him to the NFL Combine, where he put together one of the all-time best all-around showcases in front of scouts.

When Barkley threw out the first pitch at a Yankee Stadium after being drafted No. 2 overall by the Giants, photos of his quad muscles circulated social media. Giants teammate Odell Beckham popularized the nickname Saquads, which appears to be sticking.

Barkley wore a jersey with Saquads on the back during the Landon Collins Celebrity Softball Game to benefit the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.

Mater Dei (New Monmouth, N.J.) rising junior Clarence Lewis showed up for the second half of the East Coast Elite Camp and earned an offer due to his length (6-0, 180), long arms, athletic frame, and testing results. Lewis participated in a few one-on-ones, as well. Rutgers becomes the second school to offer, following Virginia Tech, which offered over a week ago at a camp at Monmouth. And Monday, Kent State became the third schoool to offer, as it had its entire staff on site for the camp.

NJ Advance Media caught up with Lewis at the event prior to his workout, and he was pumped for the opportunity to compete. Ultimately, he did what he showed up to do, leading to he and his mom being walked to their car by head coach Chris Ash following the event, and being extended an offer.

I didn’t do enough in spring training to kind of push them into putting me on the team, LeBlanc said. It’s as simple as that. Their evaluation in spring training was spot on. I wasn’t very good. So anybody that’s saying that the Yankees missed on somebody… all they had to go off of was what they saw in spring training.

Still, just two days later after being let go by the Yanks, LeBlanc signed a guaranteed one-year, $650,000 deal for a second stint with another of his former clubs, as the Mariners were looking for a veteran reliever after losing righty David Phelps for the season in March with a torn UCL.

You go where you think the opportunity is best, and if it’s not, you kind of audible out and see what else is out there, said LeBlanc, a 33-year-old from Louisiana.

No one, not even LeBlanc, imagined what would happen next.

His season got off to a poor start, as he pitched to a 4.61 ERA over five April relief outings for Seattle, then he went on the best roll of his career after replacing injured righty Erasmo Ramirez in the rotation on May 3.

Rays ace Blake Snell ties AL strikeout record

The Rays may have found a new ace.

Blake Snell tied an American League record Sunday in an outing against the Mariners by striking out the first seven batters he faced. Snell matched the mark set by former White Sox pitcher Joe Cowley of the White Sox from 1986, and was matched by Carlos Rodon in 2016.

With Graham and Willson gone, Nick Vannett is the best remaining option. Ed Dickson was signed from the Panthers, and Will Dissly was drafted. Although Dickson has proved he can do well catching passes in a pinch, he and Dislsly will be blockers for the most part.

Vannett has some untapped receiving upside Schottenheimer will try to find. But in the quest to replace Graham’s double-digit touchdowns, it’s more about Marshall, who scored a career-high 14 times just a few seasons ago.

The Astros took an early lead on a two-RBI double by Jose Altuve in the first inning and plated two runs in the fifth to double their lead to 4-0.

Kansas City scored twice in the bottom of that frame. But catcher Max Stassi blasted a three-run homer one inning later to help the Astros pull away.

Dallas Keuchel picked up the win for the Astros after he allowed two runs, none earned, in six innings on the mound. Royals starter Danny Duffy pitched six innings and surrendered seven runs, six earned.

Bruce Rondon allowed two hits and one run while recording just a single out in the White Sox’ 7-5 loss to the Tigers. He also walked two batters.

Angels reliever Noe Ramirez surrendered three runs in his one inning on the mound against the Athletics. He picked up his third loss of the season in a 6-4 defeat.

Chargers contact Antonio Gates about possible reunion

The Chargers took the first step toward a possible reunion with Antonio Gates, contacting the tight end’s representation.

Well, yes, but mostly no. Arrested players — on all NFL teams — are overwhelmingly well-paid adults who attended colleges on full scholarships.

That’s not a nationwide problem, that’s an NFL problem, the kind that makes civilized fans want to take off, or at least take a knee.

Perhaps Michael Kay, during his Yankees radio days, was irreversibly inculcated by John Sterling’s hysterical, all-the-same and often dead-wrong home run calls. But TV is a different animal — unless you’re one to ignore what you see to believe what you’re told.

Wednesday on YES, the Nationals’ Juan Soto hit a what-the-heck new Yankee Stadium-ridiculous home run. It was an opposite field pop-up, a former can of corn that nonetheless cleared the wall in left by less than not much.

I’ve always crossed that bridge when it happened, Suggs said, via the Baltimore Sun. I’ve never been one to jump into that topic before it was time. So I’m not going to worry about it now. There’s something more important that’s at stake right now.

With both sides apparently in no hurry to end a long working relationship, there wouldn’t seem to be much reason to worry about hammering out another deal even if it doesn’t happen before the calendar flips to 2019.

Conway appeared on CNN, where she was asked about the brouhaha following Trump’s disinviting the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles to the White House.

Host John Berman asked her to comment about whether Trump had indeed been demanding that NFL players express their patriotism.

The problem with the president of the United States, and the commander of cheese – chief – expressing that opinion is what? Conway said.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark) milked the flub on Twitter for all it’s worth.

Former NFL player Kellen Winslow II is facing a multitude of serious legal charges after being arrested for the second time in less than a week.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Winslow was taken into custody on Thursday, just hours after the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department put out a warrant for his arrest. Although authorities didn’t offer any details on the case, we do know that Winslow has been hit with a total of nine charges, including two counts of kidnapping with the intent to commit rape and two counts of forcible rape.

Although Winslow spent 10 seasons in the NFL, the 34-year-old never lived up to the hype that came with being the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. Winslow’s biggest season came in 2007, when earned a Pro Bowl berth with the Browns after catching 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns. During his 10-year career, Winslow played for the Browns (2004-08), Buccaneers (2009-11), Patriots (2012) and Jets (2013). Winslow is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow, who spent nine seasons with the Chargers before retiring in 1987.

That was John Daly’s reasoning when he pulled a similar stunt at the 1999 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, saying it was his response to poor pin positions.

He was talking to the scoring official and said, ‘Whatever I get, I get. Just tell me what it is,’ said Connor Buff, the standard bearer on the course, as he stood next to the 18th green.

He had a +17 next to Mickelson’s score, but admitted that he didn’t know if it should be a +18. Andrew Beef Johnston, his playing partner, seemed like he was in a state of giddy disbelief for the final five holes.

Oh, the golf nerds might have held it against him for a while, but the rest of the world would have laughed it off. So why did Mickelson have to pretend he was the smartest man in the room?

I played Augusta National. It did not go well

NFL rumors: Cowboys need to re-sign Dez Bryant, says Deion Sanders

The clock is ticking for former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who was released almost two months ago.

NFL teams are deep into OTA and minicamp schedules, with July training camps fast approaching.

As it stands, Gronkowski the horse has 12-1 odds in the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes, giving him the seventh-best odds in the field of nine. Justify leads the pack at 4-5 odds. Despite the long-shot probability of Gronk’s horse winding up in the winner’s circle, he has reason to believe. Deep down, Gronk the person just knows that the stars are aligned for Gronk the horse.

Not only were the early odds 69–1, his favorite number because of its secondary meaning, but the race is run on June 9 (6/9), a date he’s dubbed the Official Gronk National Holiday. I can’t even explain that coincidence, he laughs. It’s just wild. With that in mind, it should be a pretty nice day at the track regardless of where the horse finishes in the race.

The first number that stood out: Drew Brees is just 1,496 passing yards shy of breaking Peyton Manning’s career record (71,940). He’ll get that, easy.

Second: Kicker Adam Vinatieri needs only 58 points to pass Morten Andersen (2,544 career points) as the career scoring leader. Vinatieri will get that easily as well.

Third: Perhaps the greatest potential player on the verge of moving up the record books is also one of the classiest guys in all of sports, Larry Fitzgerald. He can move into second place all-time in receptions (he needs 92 to pass Tony Gonzalez’s 1,325) and receiving yards (390 to pass Terrell Owens’ 15,934).

Fitzgerald is the most intriguing because he will make people reevaluate who the top three receivers of all time are. I sometimes shift, but generally my list is Jerry Rice, Owens and Randy Moss. Fitzgerald might force his way onto there, though.

Matthews described his intro to TB12 thusly: Hi. Shook hands. Let’s go to work.

For an early June practice, Brady looked rather fresh. He bounced around between plays. Threw with zip. Connected on more deep throws than he missed.

Tom looked great,Rob Gronkowski assessed. He’s never going to look bad. He’s always looking good.

After working Justify at Churchill Downs, Baffert sees no reason the horse he joked was his backupto McKinzie on this Triple Crown trail could make the distance at the Belmont.

We’re quietly optimistic that we can hopefully do it again, Baffert said. But I’m like I’m a realist. I don’t believe it until I see it. Right now we just stay focused and get him up there and keep him happy.

Pete Zayas From Lakers Film Room – whose credentials have been tweeted out on t he main Lakers account – said on the Under the Buss Podcast, he was told by four sources LeBron James is going to be a Laker this summer:

I have had four different sources in the entertainment industry, none of them been basketball people… LeBron is coming [to the Lakers with Paul George] he has had to put X, Y, and Z in motion from a marketing standpoint.

James to the Lakers has long been hot rumor throughout this season, as many expect him to leave Cleveland as soon as the season comes to an end.

Although the Lakers do not have much talent on the roster currently, if James were to head to Los Angeles along with Paul George, as the report suggests, that would change quickly.

Even with James and George, however, it is hard to see the Lakers competing in a very tough Western Conference, and they would be a clear step below both the Warriors and the Houston Rockets.

In addition to the Lakers, there has been speculation that James could leave the Cavaliers for either the Sixers or the Rockets.

With free agency set to begin on July 1, we should soon have our answer.

Watch: Hue Jackson keeps promise, jumps into Lake Erie after Browns go 0-16

Browns coach Hue Jackson kept true to his promise.

Coming off a 2016 season when Cleveland went 1-15, Jackson told reporters there was no way they would have that bad of a record again.

I carry them and their families and this city with me contrary to what anybody believes. It’s on me. I wear it every day. So I just thank them for being a part of this because they didn’t have to do this. They didn’t have to come here and support this. I made the statement, and they said, ‘No, I want to do this,’ and I’m thankful.

He is progressing with his life and recovery. I’m enjoying doing that in privacy, he said. That is all I was calling to say.

He would not answer any questions about his recovery, about being impersonated or what he has been up to since 2012, but that when I get to that point, I will call you. Harrison’s wife, Michelle, also confirmed the account was not theirs.

The account that posed as Harrison posted at least two messages on Saturday; one read No one can measure your WILL! #inspireothers and another appeared to be an inspirational video. It’s not clear who was in the video.

Two days after the messages — which went viral, including stories on multiple outlets — former NFL receiver Greg Jennings, who has known Harrison since their days together in their hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan, posted a message saying the account was false.

The account was deleted the same day and reappeared Wednesday posing as Vernon Gholston with the handle (@Gholston50). A message left for Gholston, a former NFL defensive end, was not immediately returned.

That account was then deleted Thursday and again reappeared, this time with the handle @CharlesRogers80 — presumably impersonating another former NFL player, Charles Rogers. All three players who have been impersonated by the account went to high school in Michigan.

Report: Mets consider demoting OF Conforto

The Mets are considering sending to the minors to help the slumping outfielder regain his swing, according to the New York Post.

On the disabled list since May 14 because of a strained right hip flexor, the oft-injured slugger hit two doubles Saturday in his second rehab game for Double-A Binghamton but was removed early with tightness in his right quadriceps.

Same stuff he’s been battling. It’s not a total setback to day one but still not feeling the way he would like it to feel to come up here and contribute, Callaway said.

Callaway said Cespedes’ first hit Saturday was a stand-up double, but on the second one, the slugger had to run a little harder to make sure he made it to second, and that’s when he felt discomfort again.

He feels like he’s not quite ready, so we’re going to send him to Florida to kind of start that day-to-day process of getting him where he needs to be, Callaway said.

Max Muncy went 1-for-2 with two walks and a two-run homer off Sean Newcomb and is now hitting .272/.395/.616 with 12 home runs.

Seems the best-hitting team in the big leagues can win with pitching and defense, too.

Brock Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. each delivered a sacrifice fly in the 12th inning, and the Boston Red Sox limited the Baltimore Orioles to five hits in a 2-0 victory Monday night.

Though the Red Sox lead the majors in runs and batting average, they managed only four hits through 11 scoreless innings in this one.

Sometimes we’re going to go through stuff like this, throughout the season, manager Alex Cora said. But the pitching did outstanding, we played great defense and we ended up winning.

Goldschmidt homered twice in each of the first two games against the Rockies. He was 8 of 13 with four home runs and nine RBI in the three-game sweep.

Jones said whichever team signs Bryant will be getting a motivated player.

You know at the [NFL owners] meetings I have had different conversations about him, Jones said. At the Competition Committee meeting, some of the coaches there speak to it. I’m sure other coaches have called our coaches and wanted input on him. The greatest thing about Dez is he is a fierce competitor. I think he is now more driven and more competitive than he has ever been. We wish him nothing but the best.

And hey, if RG3 continues to impress the Ravens’ coaching staff while mentoring Jackson, perhaps he can find second life in the NFL as a backup quarterback. Robert Griffin in the quarterback room has been excellent — pro’s pro in every way,Ravens coach said. We do our early morning coach workouts, and he’s down there always working extra. He’s just a pro’s pro. I love every way he handles himself and I think you saw out there in practice that he practiced well.

At the time Adams tweeted that, he might’ve been right. The number of retweets has continued to climb, though.

On, a replica LeBron James jersey is priced at $74.99. Multiply that by the 300,000 people who have retweeted so far and that’s a cool $22.5 million.

But Randall didn’t specify what kind of jersey he’d buy

If the Cavs win, Randall’s best chance at actually paying up and not squelching on the bet is to be creative. Randall told everyone he’d buy them a jersey — he didn’t promise that it’d be a nice one.

On there are some truly awful Browns memorabilia up for sale. Randall could save a lot if he goes digging through the graveyard of Cleveland past to scoop up Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson, Peyton Hillis, and Colt McCoy jerseys.
